The Hanover Area Hawkeyes are taking a road trip to face off against the Dunmore Bucks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Hanover Area's offense. They fell just short of Berwick by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hawkeyes have suffered since March 25, 2024.
Logan Richardson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Hanover Area saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cam Kratz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Dunmore put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Montrose. Fans of the Bucks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Jamie McMynne made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
In other batting news, Jackson Cady was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Stets, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.
Dunmore always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .556 or higher in three consecutive games.
Dunmore's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.6 runs this season. As for Hanover Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Hanover Area beat Dunmore 6-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2018. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hanover Area since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
