The Hoggard Vikings waltzed into Thursday's match with two straight wins but they left with three. They breezed by West Bladen at home to the tune of 60-12. Fans of Hoggard have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Hoggard found their leader in underclassman Tristan Shivers, who scored 13 points along with 7 assists and 7 steals. The contest was Shivers' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Elgart, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
Hoggard's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for West Bladen, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Hoggard will be playing in front of their home fans against Wayne Country Day at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wayne Country Day focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 39 on Saturday. As for West Bladen, they will head out on the road to face off against East Bladen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Bladen presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than West Bladen in North Carolina (East Bladen is ranked 107th, while West Bladen is ranked 384th).
