Basketball Game Preview: Rockford East E-Rabs vs. Freeport Pretzels

Rockford East is 8-2 against Freeport since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Rockford East E-Rabs will challenge the Freeport Pretzels at 7:15 p.m. One thing working in Rockford East's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.

Last Wednesday, Rockford East strolled past Hononegah with points to spare, taking the game 58-43.

Rockford East got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sterling Hoarde out in front who posted 16 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance gave Hoarde a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Marquis Goldsmith, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

Rockford East smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Freeport's game on Wednesday was all tied up 31-31 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 70-52 bruising from Guilford. While losing is never fun, the Pretzels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Vikings are ranked 60th).

Rockford East's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-11. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Freeport, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.

Everything came up roses for Rockford East against Freeport when the teams last played on January 10th, as the team secured a 78-38 win. In that game, Rockford East amassed a halftime lead of 42-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
