The Alliance Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Scottsbluff. Alliance has not had much luck with the Bearcats recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Alliance's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Seth Meyring, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Espen Lanik, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Scottsbluff was led to victory by Nate Kelley and Rylee Meininger. Kelley scored 17 points along with six assists and four steals, while Meininger scored 31 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Meininger has scored all season. Landon Amundsen was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds.
Alliance has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Scottsbluff, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.
Alliance will be playing in front of their home fans against the Comets at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rapid City Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matchups -- so hopefully the Bulldogs like a good challenge. As for Scottsbluff, they will head out on the road to face off against the Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sidney will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive.
