Mingus hasn't had much luck against Bradshaw Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Mingus Marauders will host the Bradshaw Mountain Bears at 3:45 p.m. Mingus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Mingus blew Shadow Mountain out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Shadow Mountain got their revenge. Mingus fell just short of Shadow Mountain by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Marauders couldn't push the score so high this time.
Mingus saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derrick Alvarez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. Alvarez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, Bradshaw Mountain never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Peoria with a sharp 18-0 win. The game marked the Bears' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Caden Randall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Randall was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Nitesh Patel was incredible, scoring four runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Isaiah Avila was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Bradshaw Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peoria only posted an OBP of .111.
Bradshaw Mountain pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mingus, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Mingus' speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. Mingus has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bradshaw Mountain, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mingus continue to outrun the ball?
Mingus couldn't quite finish off Bradshaw Mountain when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can Mingus avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
