The Middlesex Chargers will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Essex Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Middlesex has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 745 points over their last ten matches.
Middlesex stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat West Point 80-46 on the road. Given Middlesex's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while West Point is ranked 420th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Middlesex's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JaQuan Griffin, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Griffin has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Dandy, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Essex took a serious blow against Lancaster on Tuesday, falling 75-48. Essex was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-19.
Middlesex is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Essex, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.
Middlesex didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Essex when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 59-54 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Essex's Kamren Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 21 rebounds.
