After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bishop Kelly, Skyview was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Columbia Wildcats get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.
Makenna Shamy made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Grace Chambers and Makayla Lytle did most of the damage at the plate: Chambers went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple, while Lytle went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Lytle has posted since back in March. Kenna Bettencourt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Skyview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Skyview's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-13. As for Columbia, their loss was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-16.
