The Okawville Rockets scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They really took it to Chester for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-24 victory on the road. With Okawville ahead 42-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Okawville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alayna Kraus, who scored 22 points along with two steals. Kraus is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madisyn Wienstroer, who scored eight points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Chester had strong showings from Lexie Mott, who scored eight points, and Aubrey Colvis, who scored five points along with two blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Chester struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Okawville's win bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Chester, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Okawville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Carlyle at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. Carlyle is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Chester, they will head out on the road to challenge Wesclin at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Wesclin will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
