It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Marian Mustangs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Mercy out 68-66. Winning may never get old, but Marian sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Mckenzie Swanson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 21 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was McKenley Reid, who scored 18 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Marian's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Mercy, they dropped their record down to 5-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Marian will head out on the road to face off against Oxford at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mercy, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Notre Dame Academy at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Notre Dame Academy is ranked 149th in Ohio, while Mercy is ranked 148th in Michigan).
