Alex Gannon and Owen Ripple made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Gannon didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Ripple struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gannon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Gannon went 3-for-4 with two triples, one run, and one RBI, while Ripple went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Ripple a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on John Malloy, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Ruhland, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Newark Charter School owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They came out on top against St. Elizabeth by a score of 3-0. The win was familiar territory for the Patriots, who have now won three contests in a row.
Newark Charter School saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tristan Tynan, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Sanford pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Newark Charter School, their record now sits at 7-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sanford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Newark Charter School struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Sanford's way against Newark Charter School in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Sanford made off with an 8-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
