It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Fort Bend Chargers HomeSchool Chargers had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They breezed by St. Stephen's Episcopal at home to the tune of 76-31. Considering Fort Bend Chargers HomeSchool has won eight matchups by more than 19 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
When it comes to explaining why St. Stephen's Episcopal lost, one person who can't be blamed is Charlie Jones. Despite the final result, he picked up 91 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The win was the fifth in a row for Fort Bend Chargers HomeSchool, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-10 Williamson County HomeSchool and 1-9 High Island (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.3% over those games). As for St. Stephen's Episcopal, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Fort Bend Chargers HomeSchool will face off against Fort Worth THESA at TBD on Friday. One thing working in Fort Worth THESA's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matches. St. Stephen's Episcopal does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
