The Clarksdale Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Greenville Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Clarksdale has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Greenville will arrive with four straight wins.
Clarksdale's 24-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell to Coahoma County 39-34. While losing is never fun, Clarksdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Coahoma County is ranked 99th).
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Greenville beat North Side 44-40 on Tuesday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greenville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Charlisa Barney, who scored 17 points along with 3 steals. The game was Barney's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Coriyonna Brown was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 7 rebounds.
Clarksdale's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Greenville, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1.
