On Saturday, Bridge to Independence was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-38 to DME Academy Blue.
Despite the defeat, Bridge to Independence saw an underclassman step up: Jaydan Jeantinord dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds. Jeantinord is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jvarius Gibson, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Bridge to Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for DME Academy Blue, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bridge to Independence's road trip will continue as they head out to face Spruce Creek at 5:00 p.m. on January 15th. As for DME Academy Blue, DME Academy Blue and Deltona will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Deltona is on a three-game streak of home wins, DME Academy Blue a three-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
