Lakeview is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Marlington. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Isabella Isenberg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.
On the hitting side, Lakeview's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Linnea Kovac, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Kalyssa Werner, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Lakeview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Elyria Catholic got the win against Northwest on Saturday by a conclusive 12-6. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Hannah Brooks was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Conner, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
The victory made it two in a row for Elyria Catholic and bumps their season record up to 24-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Lakeview, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Lakeview hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Elyria Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
