I Section IV recap September 24, 2013
Mountain Pointe added to the longest winning streak in I Section IV this week by beating Chandler, 38-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Dobson took down Maryvale 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Nick Riddle threw for 111 yards and ran for 37 yards in the win.
Mountain Pointe's dynamic duo of Antonio Hinojosa and Jalen Brown proved to be unstoppable against the Wolves, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hinojosa threw for 123 yards and Brown had 77 yards receiving. Timmy Hernandez helped Mountain Pointe's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 38 yards.
Norris Vaughan's team's dynamic duo of Hinojosa and Brown proved tough for Chandler to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Ryan Velez was the best running back in the league this week. In 35 carries, he ran for 183 yards as Brophy College Prep bested Shawn Aguano's team. Teammate Cade Knox added to the ground attack by rushing for 10 yards.
Hinojosa put up the best numbers in passing as Mountain Pointe defeated the Wolves.
Velez provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Broncos fell to Red Mountain. Velez's favorite target this week was Matt Meyer, who caught 4 passes for 36 yards.
Brown was the best receiver in the league this week as the Pride beat Chandler.
Mountain Pointe's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Pride feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hinojosa has thrown for 820 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Brown has 17 catches for 387 yards.
