The Richfield Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wendell Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wendell took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Richfield, who comes in off a win.
Richfield has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 23 points or more this season. They really took it to Hansen for the full four quarters, racking up a 46-14 win on the road. That looming 46-14 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Richfield yet this season.
Malia Kent and Kasey Hendren were among the main playmakers for Richfield as the former scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals and the latter scored 18 points along with seven steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Hendren has scored at least 25% of Richfield's points. Another player making a difference was Shelby Jones, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Wendell's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 52-24 loss at the hands of Raft River. While losing is never fun, Wendell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Raft River is ranked 23rd).
Richfield's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Wendell, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-9.
Richfield beat Wendell 36-28 in their previous meeting back in November. Does Richfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wendell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
