3A Region IV District 29 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Hondo was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in 3A Region IV District 29. The Owls vanquished Winn 34-14 earlier in the week.
Lytle moved up to 994 from 1,052 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Pirates were able to make the jump by beating the Pirates 47-22.
Carrizo Springs's dynamic duo of Domingo Lumbreras and Raymond Snow proved tough for Jourdanton to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lumbreras threw for 109 yards and Snow had 60 yards receiving. Jesse Rodriguez helped Carrizo Springs' passing attack out by catching one ball for 27 yards.
Jordan Fraga was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 246 yards on 37 carries as Devine lost to the Indians. Teammate Pat Mares added to the ground attack by rushing for 45 yards.
Devine's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Warhorses feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tyler Cook has thrown for 302 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Fraga has three catches for 112 yards. Fraga leads the league in rushing with 950 yards.
Fraga of the the Warhorses is only 50 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
Devine extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Luling, 35-10. The win marks fourth in a row for the Chad Quisenberry's team.
