While losing is never fun, Joliet Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while the Spartans are ranked 44th).
Joliet Catholic's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Symone Holman, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Holman is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Camryn Kinsella, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Joliet Catholic has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-22 record this season. As for Marian Catholic, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-6.
Joliet Catholic will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Plainfield South is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Marian Catholic, they will square off against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Saint Viator focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
