The Claremont Wolfpack's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They fell just short of Sage Ridge by a score of 41-39. While losing is never fun, Claremont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 1067th in California, while Sage Ridge is ranked 107th in Nevada).
Claremont lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aarion Kennebrew, who scored eight points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Yonael (Yona) Banko, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Claremont were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Claremont has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Sage Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 1-8.
Claremont and Charter Oak will face off at 11:00 a.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Charter Oak has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
