This season hasn't been kind to the Soroco Rams, who are still winless after their fifth match. They were dealt a 58-28 loss at the hands of Monte Vista on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Soroco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Monte Vista is ranked 86th).
Among those leading the charge was Daylin Castro, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Allessah Archuleta, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Soroco's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Monte Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Soroco will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Basalt at 1:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Monte Vista is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Bayfield at 5:30 p.m. on December 19th. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Bayfield: 29.5, Monte Vista: 28.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
