The Mount Carmel Tornadoes will venture away from home to challenge the Milton Black Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mount Carmel has five straight victories, Milton has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, Mount Carmel got the win against Sugar Valley Rural by a conclusive 18-6. The game marked the Tornadoes' most dominant win of the season so far.
Jason Klokis was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Jaylen Delaney was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Mount Carmel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sugar Valley Rural only posted an OBP of .462.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Milton's offense. They came up short against Midd-West on Wednesday, falling 12-0.
Milton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Folmar, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
Milton's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Mount Carmel, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Milton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mount Carmel hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .415. It's a different story for Milton, though, as they've only averaged .186. Will they be able to contain Mount Carmel's hitters?
Mount Carmel got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Milton by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tornadoes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
