Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mesa Vista walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 63-35 victory over the Hozho Academy Wolves. The Trojans are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 14 straight.
Mesa Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tana Lopez, who went 8-for-14 on her way to 20 points and four steals. Lopez has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Lopez, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 16 points in addition to six boards and six steals.
Mesa Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ariel Garcia, who posted nine points. That's the most points Garcia has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hayden Daniels, who scored eight points.
Mesa Vista's victory bumped their record up to 25-3. As for Hozho Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-13.
