The Geneva Classical Academy Knights will challenge the Real Life Christian Academy Raptors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Geneva Classical Academy is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Lake Mary Prep on Friday. The Knights snuck past the Griffins with a 56-52 victory.
Geneva Classical Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bennett Bayhan led the charge by picking up 324 receiving yards and four scores, while also rushing for 75 yards and one TD. Bayhan really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 75 yards. Clay Lindsay was another key signal caller, throwing for 424 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per attempt.
Geneva Classical Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Wyatt Edwards and Eli Smith. Another thorn in Lake Mary Prep's side was Caleb Causey, who forced two fumbles, made 17 total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defended one pass.
Meanwhile, Real Life Christian Academy faced Liberty Christian Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Raptors claimed a resounding 62-6 win over the Lions. The Raptors' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Real Life Christian Academy had a senior duo take command as Caleb Burden rushed for 80 yards and a pair of TDs on only five carries and Johnny Olson rushed for 97 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries. Burden also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making two total tackles.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Real Life Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 296 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 198 rushing yards in six consecutive games dating back to last season.
Real Life Christian Academy's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. In that department, Hayden Longworth was the leader with two sacks.
Geneva Classical Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Real Life Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
