The Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian Flying Dutchmen will head out on the road to face off against the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Flying Dutchmen beat the Falcons on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-4.
Josh Groen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Groen was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three runs, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Levi Van Essen looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.
Back at the plate, Trevin Prins was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Caden Sas was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton got the win against Lakeview on Sunday by a conclusive 13-3. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Russell-Tyler-Ruthton got a massive performance out of Tyler Wichmann, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Determan, who fired off three triples and three RBI while going 3-for-4.
Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, their record now sits at 15-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Russell-Tyler-Ruthton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Flying Dutchmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
