Spencer and the Indians are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Spencer Rockets will head out on the road to take on the Greenwood Indians at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Greenwood took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Spencer, who comes in off a win.
Last Monday, Spencer made easy work of the Fighting Cardinals and carried off a 51-27 win.
Spencer's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Autumn Davis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Davis hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Alexa Weber, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Greenwood's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-11 loss at the hands of Neillsville. While losing is never fun, Greenwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Warriors are ranked 49th).
Spencer's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12. As for Greenwood, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
Spencer was taken down by the Indians 64-29 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Spencer avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
