The Pine Crest Panthers's four-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-52 win over Don Soffer Aventura.
Leading Pine Crest to victory were Dylan Wigoda and Rowan Hoffman. Wigoda scored 17 points, while Hoffman scored 18 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Hoffman has scored at least 25% of Pine Crest's points. Jayden Lang was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Don Soffer Aventura's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Amiel Eilon, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Tom Sela, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Don Soffer Aventura were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Pine Crest's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Don Soffer Aventura, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.
Pine Crest won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Somerset Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Somerset Prep has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for Don Soffer Aventura, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sheridan Hills Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Sheridan Hills Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches.
