The Cole Cougars can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. Everything went their way against Marion as Cole made off with a 51-27 victory. Winning may never get old, but Cole sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Cole's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abigail Levings led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Levings hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Kamyra Childs was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Marion's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Breelon Allen, who scored ten points along with five blocks, and Whitley Wiatrek who scored ten points along with six rebounds. Allen is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played.
Marion struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Cole pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
Cole is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 26-8 record this season. As for Marion, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-20.
Cole will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Luling will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1405th, while the Cougars are ranked 382nd). As for Marion, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Nixon-Smiley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 38 on Friday.
