There's no place like home for the Ashe County Huskies, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They managed a 54-48 win over Alexander Central on Friday. This was payback for Ashe County, who suffered a 56-42 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Ashe County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Harrison Langdon, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Ian Graybeal, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chad Lasher, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Fortner, who scored 11 points.
Even though they lost, Alexander Central were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ashe County only posted four assists.
Ashe County's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Alexander Central, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Ashe County will head out on the road to take on Hibriten at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alexander Central, they will be playing at home against South Caldwell at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Caldwell presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Alexander Central in North Carolina (South Caldwell is ranked 149th, while Alexander Central is ranked 322nd).
