Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Silver's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Silver came out on top against Deming on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Fighting Colts were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Colts, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Azariah Madrid was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allisandra Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Vanessa Lucero was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Silver has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Deming, they moved to 6-12 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Silver is set to take on their familiar foe Santa Teresa at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Deming will challenge rival Chaparral at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
