Marian and Papillion-LaVista are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Marian Crusaders will be home for the holidays to greet the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Marian was able to grind out a solid win over Gretna East, taking the game 52-42.
It was another big night for Mckenna Stover, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Elsa Vedral, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Papillion-LaVista had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down Bellevue East 54-38.
Marian's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Papillion-LaVista, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Marian came out on top in a nail-biter against Papillion-LaVista in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 65-63. Will Marian repeat their success, or does Papillion-LaVista have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
