The East Bay Indians will take on the Lennard Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
East Bay will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against Armwood on Tuesday. East Bay was the clear victors by a 20-4 margin over Armwood. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won five in a row.
East Bay got a massive performance out of Jessalyn Lugo, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Lugo has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Heidy Encarnacion, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
East Bay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Lennard got themselves on the board against Brandon on Monday, but Brandon never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 17-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Longhorns considering their two-run performance the match before.
Hannah Rooks and Layla Leon did most of the damage at the plate: Rooks scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Leon went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Kennedy McClain was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases.
Lennard now has a winning record of 4-3. As for East Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. East Bay has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. However, it's not like Lennard struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
