The Jenkins Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Coffee 71-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (64), Jenkins still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Jenkins lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jeremiah James. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. James is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Aj bynum, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Leading Coffee to victory were Junitho Benson and Marquavious Bussey. Benson scored 17 points along with eight rebounds, while Bussey scored 27 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bussey has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jy'darius Odums, who scored six points along with seven assists and two steals.
Jenkins has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Coffee, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-10.
Jenkins and Richmond Hill will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Coffee, they will head out on the road to take on Statesboro at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Statesboro presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Coffee in Georgia (Statesboro is ranked 56th, while Coffee is ranked 237th).
