The Yuma Outlaws will venture away from home to face off against the Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Yuma sitting on three straight victories and Haxtun on five.
While Yuma didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Sedgwick County with a sharp 11-5 win on Saturday. Considering the Outlaws have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Stevie Seward, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Yuma is undefeated when Seward posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Lennox Huwa, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Haxtun was not the first on the board on Saturday, but they got there more often. Everything went their way against Otis as they made off with a 13-2 victory. The Fightin' Bulldogs are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fifth game they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Kanin Koberstein was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Ryland Wolff was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five RBI and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Braden Plumb also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Haxtun always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Otis only posted an OBP of .333.
Haxtun's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.3 runs this season. As for Yuma, their record is now 5-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Yuma has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Haxtun struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Yuma came out on top in a nail-biter against Haxtun in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Outlaws since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
