Mission Oak is 0-2 against Hanford since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mission Oak Hawks will be playing at home against the Hanford Bullpups at 7:30 p.m. Mission Oak will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Hanford is ranked 104th).
Last Friday, Mission Oak came up short against Tulare Union and fell 32-25. Mission Oak has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, Mission Oak saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Daniel Gonzalez, who threw for 171 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Kenny Jackson, who gained 131 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Hanford had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They claimed a resounding 50-6 victory over Tulare Western at home. The result was nothing new for Hanford, who have now won five matches by 23 points or more so far this season.
Kourdey Glass continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 108 yards and four touchdowns on only seven carries, while also catching a touchdown. Glass was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. Elijah Felder made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Mission Oak has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Hanford, their win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
Mission Oak was dealt a bruising 55-13 loss at the hands of Hanford in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Mission Oak, Cayden Muir (who threw for 355 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
