Fleming County has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Russell Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fleming County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Russell likes a good challenge.
Fleming County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 22 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 71-48 margin over Bath County. Given Fleming County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Bath County is ranked 265th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Eastern scored an imposing 64 points on Monday, Russell still came out on top. Russell put the hurt on Eastern with a sharp 90-64 win. Russell's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Russell found their leader in underclassman Gabe Pridemore, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Tatum Fleming, who scored 17 points.
Fleming County pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Russell, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Fleming County came up short against Russell in their previous matchup back in March, falling 71-60. Can Fleming County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
