Football Game Preview: Portland Bulldogs vs. Bangor Rams

Portland is a perfect 6-0 against Bangor since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Rams at 6:00 p.m. Portland is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games dating back to last season.

Portland barely beat Deering the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs really took it to the Rams for the full four quarters, racking up a 34-0 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Maine football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Rams are ranked 39th).

Cordell Jones went supernova, rushing for 170 yards and three scores while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and also throwing for 121 yards and one touchdown on only ten passes. Portland's leading receiver Alex Martin was Jones' top target yet again, picking up 40 receiving yards, while also rushing for 102 yards on only 12 carries.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bangor, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They breezed past Lawrence to the tune of 42-0 on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Rams considering their seven-point performance the contest before.

Portland's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Bangor, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Everything came up roses for Portland against Bangor in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 54-14 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
