It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but West Central had no problem doing just that  on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  4-3  win over the Caston Comets. That's more bragging rights for West Central, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
  Jaden Erb spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  Annika Smith was  excellent,  going 1-for-3 with a  home run.  Mara Sharpe was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 On Caston's side,  Addison Zimpleman put in work no matter where she played. She  tossed 7.1 innings while giving up  four earned runs off   six  hits. Zimpleman was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
 Zimpleman wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Isabel Scales, who  went 1-for-4 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 West Central has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won seven of their last eight contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record  this season. As for Caston, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-5.
 West Central is on the road again  on Tuesday to play North Miami at 5:00  p.m. North Miami will roll in looking for their  fifth straight  victory, something West Central surely won't give up without a fight. Caston does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
