Luke Smith Has Career Rushing Day
Starting off the list is Cherokee's Luke Smith, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Smith picked up a sack and made five total tackles, good enough to also set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making five total tackles.
Cherokee's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Smith and Cherokee will play host again on Friday to welcome Swain County, where kickoff is scheduled at 7:30 p.m.

Murphy Wins Seventh-Straight Thanks to Cameron Clem
Murphy picked up their seventh consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Cameron Clem. Nobody could stop Clem as he rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown.
This year, Clem has run in 12 touchdowns while averaging 91.8 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had five rushing touchdowns.
