Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olivia Hoyt, who posted two points and ten rebounds. Hoyt is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last four games she's played. Kelsey Troxell was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Smithsburg found their leader in sophomore Claire Bono, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyla Mastronardi, who scored 11 points and four steals.
Catoctin's loss dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Smithsburg, their victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4.
Catoctin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Smithsburg, they will challenge Southern on Tuesday. Southern will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Smithsburg surely won't give up without a fight.
