Pace and Lopez are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Pace Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Lopez Lobos at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pace comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, in a tight match that could have gone either way, Pace made off with a 25-24 victory over Porter. The victory was just what Pace needed coming off of a 58-17 defeat in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pace to victory, but perhaps none more so than Risa Trevino, who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Kayla Cavazos, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lopez beat Mercedes 52-48 on Friday.
Pace's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-23. As for Lopez, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season.
Pace was taken down by Lopez 64-19 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Pace was down 30-10.
