Tamaqua hasn't had much luck against Blue Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Blue Raiders will take on the Eagles at 1:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Tamaqua hadn't beaten Our Lady of Lourdes Regional on the road since May 4, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Blue Raiders put the hurt on the Red Raiders with a sharp 18-2 win. The Blue Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Nico Conahan and Megan Linkhorst did most of the damage at the plate: Conahan went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Linkhorst went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Linkhorst a new career-high. Addison Krall also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Tamaqua was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Blue Mountain made sure to put some runs up on the board against Mahanoy Area on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Golden Bears 12-1.
Emily Leonard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Emmerson Frie was incredible, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Avery Hudock, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Blue Mountain pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Tamaqua, their record now sits at 8-5-1.
Tamaqua might still be hurting after the 19-1 loss they got from Blue Mountain in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Blue Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
