Havelock (N.C.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat Jacksonville (N.C.), 42-12, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Derrell Scott touchdown run in the first quarter, the Rams led 28-6 at the half.
Havelock expanded its lead to 30 points entering the fourth quarter. HHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by
Pharoh Cooper to
C J Lindsey.
With the win the Rams extended their winning streak to seven games. Havelock defeated the Falcons 41-7 last week.
Cooper was the top performer for HHS. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.
The Rams went into the matchup giving up only 13.4 points per game. The Cardinals came in giving up 14.3 points per game this season. Jacksonville struggled against Havelock, which came in averaging 40.5 points per game.
A 42-7 Havelock victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss comes after Jacksonville defeated West Craven 23-21 last week. The loss snapped JHS's 3-game winning streak.
In a 3A Coastal game next week Havelock (8-1) takes on West Carteret, and Jacksonville (6-3) will go up against Conley also in a 3A Coastal game.
