Even though The Bremen Braves have not done well against the Hillcrest Hawks recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Bremen really took it to Hillcrest for the full four quarters, racking up a 34-0 victory on the road. Bremen pushed the score to 28-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Hillcrest had little chance of recovering from.
Bremen got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nehemiah Rogers out in front who rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Vince Webber made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Hillcrest to a paltry 126 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Bremen's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out nine times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Bremen now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Hillcrest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bremen will face off against Kankakee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kankakee will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Hillcrest, they will head out on the road to face off against Carbondale at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Carbondale is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
