Thomas Nelson is a perfect 5-0 against Caverna since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Generals will square off against the Colonels at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Thomas Nelson has four straight victories, Caverna has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Thomas Nelson didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over Paris on Saturday. The Generals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Mason Dobson and Ethan Casey were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Dobson pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Casey pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. At the plate, Dobson earned two RBI and two runs, while Casey got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double. The dominant performance also gave Casey a new career-high in hits (two).

In other batting news, Justin Parsley was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Girdley, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Meanwhile, Caverna scored the most runs they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Butler County, falling 19-1.
Thomas Nelson's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Caverna, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8-1.
Thomas Nelson's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Generals have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Caverna, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Thomas Nelson continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Thomas Nelson's way against Caverna when the teams last played back in May of 2019, as Thomas Nelson made off with a 12-3 win. Will the Generals repeat their success, or do the Colonels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
