Concord is a perfect 6-0 against Mt. Diablo since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bears will host the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. Concord has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Concord lost 15-3 to Miramonte on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Matadors: they've now lost four in a row.

Shay Caban was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played.
Mt. Diablo couldn't beat Campolindo on Tuesday even though they stacked nine runs on them in the first inning. The Red Devils fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 14-13. While the Red Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 9-2 in the first period.
Leilani Sheperd was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and 12 unearned) runs off ten hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in March. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Melissa Ceja stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Sarah Bravo- Ortega, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.
Mt. Diablo's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Concord, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Mt. Diablo's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Concord has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Mt. Diablo, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Concord keep running through batters, or will the Red Devils buck the trend?
Everything went Concord's way against Mt. Diablo in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Concord made off with a 20-1 victory. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
