The Buchtel Griffins are on the road again on Saturday and play against the Washington Tigers at 2:30 p.m. on December 23rd. Buchtel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 621st, while Washington is ranked 170th).
On Thursday, Buchtel had to suffer through a rough 63-23 loss at the hands of Warrensville Heights. Buchtel was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-7.
Meanwhile, the stars were shining brightly for Washington in a 61-46 win over Alliance on Wednesday. The win was just what Washington needed coming off of a 55-28 loss in their prior match.
Buchtel's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.7 points per game. As for Washington, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Buchtel took a serious blow against Washington when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 51-23. Can Buchtel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
