It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Los Alamos had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Bernalillo Spartans as they made off with an 11-3 victory. Considering the Hilltoppers have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Malaya Haynes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Abagail Deherrera was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Jamie Cisneros was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Los Alamos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in 11 consecutive games.
