The Bloomfield Warhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 76-36 loss at the hands of Newington. Bloomfield has struggled against Newington recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Bela Cucuta was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with two steals for Newington. Cucuta is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Petit, who scored 14 points.
Bloomfield's defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-16. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.8 points per game. As for Newington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Bloomfield will look to defend their home court on Monday against Windsor at 5:30 p.m. Windsor will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Bloomfield surely won't give up without a fight. Newington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
