The Durand Railroaders will head out on the road to face off against the Hill-McCloy Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Durand has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 204 points over their last three contests.
Durand scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Byron on the road to the tune of 81-44. That looming 81-44 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Durand yet this season.
Durand's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Levi Smith led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Smith continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Joslin, who scored nine points along with eight assists and seven steals.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 58 points the game before, Hill-McCloy were a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They were dealt a 70-19 defeat at the hands of Ovid-Elsie.
Durand now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Hill-McCloy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Durand took their win against Hill-McCloy when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 78-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Durand since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
