After losing to the Laney Wildcats the last time they met, the Washington County Golden Hawks decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Washington County strolled past Laney with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 66-51. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Washington County.
Washington County was led to victory by Jade Kitchens and Emmya Gamble. Kitchens dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Gamble scored 24 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gamble has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tamia Thomas, who scored six points along with 13 rebounds.
Washington County's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6. As for Laney, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.
Washington County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Dublin at 6:00 p.m. on January 13th. Dublin has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-2 during that stretch of close contests. As for Laney, they will head out on the road to square off against Westside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westside is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
